Meeting with Weronika Gęsicka on narration in photography

and visual manipulation

The Hidden Photo and the Academy of Photography have launched a series of meetings to discuss hidden aspects of photography. The host of the second meeting will be Weronika Gęsicka – a laureate of the previous edition of the competition, and a graduate of the Academy of Photography. The meeting will be started by Ewa Mielczarek who will first describe The Hidden Photo’s project, and then she will talk with Weronika Gęsicka about the photographic narration and image manipulation.

Weronika Gęsicka was born in 1984 in Włocławek. She graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Photography in Warsaw; she is a holder of the scholarship granted by the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Her projects involve subjects related to memory and its mechanisms. She is interested in the related scientific and quasi-scientific theories, mnemotechnics, and deviations of various types. Photography is the primary area of her activity. An important part of her creative operations is the work with archival materials from many sources, like photo stocks found in the Internet, as well as police archives or old press photographs.
